Community Service Block Grant |
|
Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) funds are used to develop programs and services designed especially to meet local needs. The following are the programs offered by Will County Center for Community Concerns. Housing CounselingThe Housing Counseling Program provides counseling to homeowners and/or potential homeowners
in areas such as Pre-purchase / Homebuyers Education, Mortgage Default / Foreclosure Prevention, Pre-Foreclosure Sale
Options, Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM). HUD approved.
Emergency ServicesThe Emergency Services Program provides assistance to individuals or families who are facing
eviction or are threatened to have their water service disconnected.
Employment SupportThe Employment Support Program assists eligible customers with such items as daycare cost,
transportation and work supplies that enable them to obtain/maintain employment.
Prescription Drug AssistanceThe Prescription Drug Assistance Program issues vouchers for prescribed medications to
eligible customers for use at participating pharmacies.
CSBG Loan ProgramThe CSBG Loan Program has funds available for small business start up or expansion. The business owner must be working with a bank or other financial organization and be willing to employ low-income individuals. CSBG Scholarship ProgramThe CSBG Scholarship Program awards scholarships each year to low-income and disadvantaged students of high academic achievement or potential. Students must be enrolled or enrolling in an accredited institute of higher education in the state of Illinois. Family and Community DevelopmentKey staff members, who are certified as Family and Community Development Specialists,
provide intensive case management to promote self-sufficiency in the family. Together the case manager and family
formulate goals and steps needed to achieve these goals. Information/Referral ServiceClients are informed of and referred to other County resources which are available to assist them in becoming more self-sufficient. Financial Literacy ProgramThe Financial Literacy Program is designed to educate participants on budgeting, money management, insurances, identity theft, credit and much more. |
