Service Block Grant
Community
Service Block Grant (CSBG) funds are used to develop programs and
services designed especially to meet local needs.
The following are the programs offered by Will County Center for
Community Concerns.
Prescription
Drug Assistance
The
Prescription Drug Assistance Program issues
vouchers for prescribed medications to qualified clients for use
at participating
pharmacies.
Emergency
Services
The
Emergency Services Program provides assistance to individuals or
families who are facing eviction or are threatened to have their water
or sewer service disconnected.
CSBG
Loan Program
The
CSBG Loan Program has funds available for small
business start up or expansion.
The business owner must be working with a bank or other financial
organization and be willing to employ low-income
individuals.
CSBG
Scholarship Program
The
CSBG Scholarship Program awards scholarships each year to low-income and
disadvantaged students of high academic
achievement or potential. Students
must be enrolled or enrolling in an institute of higher education in the
state of Illinois.
Housing
Counseling
The
Housing Counseling Program provides training and counseling to
low-income renters and home owners in areas including landlord/tenant
relations, budgeting, family and life skills, Pre-Purchase, Homebuyers
Education, Mortgage Default, Post-Purchase, Pre-Foreclosure, and HECM
(Reverse Mortgage).

Family
and Community Development
Key
staff members, who are certified as Family and
Community Development Specialists, provide intensive case
management to promote self-sufficiency in the
family. Together the
case manager and family formulate goals and steps needed to achieve
these goals.

Employment
Support
The
Employment Support Program assists eligible heads of households to
obtain/maintain employment with such items as
daycare, transportation and work supplies.
Certified
Renters Program
The
Certified Renters Program is designed to provide
training and counseling to eligible clients who have been
identified as those who need awareness of landlord/tenant
responsibilities.
Information/Referral
Service
Clients
are informed of and referred to other County
resources which are available to assist them in becoming more
self-sufficient.
